Public sharing

Public sharing has two levels: share one record with its own read-only link, or create a family public page that collects only the records already made public.

Create a single-record link

1. Open the tree, gallery album, event, project, wallet, document, or history record.
2. Choose the public sharing control.
3. Review the public settings before copying the link.
4. Open the link in a private browser window to verify what visitors see.

Create a family public page

The family public page is a directory link for the whole family account. It does not make private records public. It only shows records that already have active public links, so visitors can browse approved public trees, albums, events, projects, finance wallets, documents, and history entries from one place.

Quick event sharing

Quick Share Event creates a separate expiring link for 30 minutes, 1 hour, 5 hours, 24 hours, one week, or permanently. It publishes only the event planning summary and updates after saved event, item, goal, or contribution changes. Image and PDF Summary use the device share sheet when available and download otherwise.

Privacy settings

Public shares can hide sensitive details such as profile images, living-person dates, external partner identities, finance amounts, downloads, contact fields, and event or project checklists. When checklist visibility is enabled, visitors see the checklist rows and progress bar in read-only form. The safest default is to reveal only the details the family has agreed to publish.

Public discovery and search engines

Every new public link is unlisted and excluded from search-engine indexing by default. Turn on Allow public discovery only for a tree, album, event, project, custom wallet, document, or history record that is appropriate for a broad public audience. The link then becomes eligible for the Racinage sitemap, search results, and public link previews.

When discovery is enabled, add an Open Graph title and description for search results and social previews. An empty title falls back to the share name or record title, while an empty description is omitted. Turning discovery off restores the unlisted, no-index behavior without deleting the saved metadata.

Public viewer layout

The public page supports the same horizontal and vertical tree views as the dashboard, but editing controls are removed. Visitors can reset the tree view, zoom, move around, and open member details if the share settings allow those details.

Recommendations

If recommendations are enabled, visitors can submit suggested corrections or additions. Treat recommendations as review items, not automatic edits. A family manager should confirm the information before it becomes part of the family record.

Revoking access

If a link was shared too widely or the privacy settings need to change, disable or regenerate the public share. After changing settings, test the public URL again.
