Getting started

Use this guide to get from a new Racinage account to a usable family workspace with the first people, roles, and records ready.

Create or join a family

A Racinage account belongs to a family workspace. Users sign in with a family code plus their username or email, so make sure new members receive the correct family code from a manager.

1
Create the family workspace.

Use the signup flow, verify the email address, and keep the family code somewhere safe.

2
Invite trusted users.

Add people from user management and assign only the permissions they need.

3
Open the tree page.

The first useful setup task is adding the first person in the family tree.

Dashboard navigation

The top navigation opens the major workspaces: Tree, Gallery, Events, Projects, Finances, Documents, and History. Global search is available from the header and returns records the current user can access.

Tree Gallery Events Projects Finances Documents History

First setup checklist

  • Add the first family member in the tree.
  • Upload clear profile photos for people who should be easy to recognize.
  • Add managers or editors only after deciding their permissions.
  • Create one test public share link and verify privacy settings before sharing widely.
  • Add a few important documents or history entries so the family sees value quickly.
Good default: keep the family tree private while building it, then create a public share only after names, photos, and living-person settings have been reviewed.

Browser basics

Use browser zoom for text size, and use the tree controls for moving around the tree canvas. On the horizontal tree, the reset button returns the tree to the centered home position.
